Answer:  If your refrigerator has a 5/16 line it should work, my refrigerator is a Mytag 

Question: do I need a tool to remove the old one?

Answer: No tool required. Pull the small white ring outwards and pull the tubing. Or grab the blue fitting firmly and pull tubing assembly. 

Question: Will this work on a maytag mfi2568aew french door refrigerator? the plastic tube between the unit and the copper waterline has a small hole in it.

Answer: This will work on any plastic water line as long as the diameter of the line is the same as the connector. Our size 5/16IN (8MM) So be sure to order the correct connector size.
