These Aluminum Oxide (AO) sheets come in the following grades: 1) 0.3 micron (white) or 60.000 grit 2) 1 micron (light green) or 14,000 grit 3) 3 micron (pink) or 8,000 grit 4) 9 micron (light blue) or 1800 grit 5) 12 micron (yellow) or 1200 grit 6) 30 micron (green) or 600 grit and 7) 40 micron (blue) or 300 grit. The sheets are not marked so using their color is the only accurate way to identify. In the finer grits, it can be difficult to differentiate the abrasive side from the backing. The abrasive side will always have a matte finish, where the film backing side will be glossy.

3M™Tegaderm™ Transparent Film Dressing Frame Style 1626W is a transparent film dressing designed for protecting skin and wound sites, and securing devices to skin, even in the presence of moderate amounts of moisture. The dressing consists of a thin film backing with a non-latex, hypoallergenic adhesive. It is breathable, allowing good oxygen and moisture vapor exchange. It is also waterproof and impermeable to liquids, bacteria, and viruses.* Tegaderm™ Transparent Film Dressing, with the frame delivery system, allows maximum versatility as it can be cut to any shape and size. Dressing conforms to the body and flexes with skin, offering increased patient comfort. Tegaderm transparent film dressing allows easy monitoring of wounds without the need to remove the dressing. A versatile dressing, it can be used to cover and protect catheter sites and wounds, to maintain a moist environment for wound healing or to facilitate autolytic debridement, as a secondary dressing, as a protective cover over at-risk skin, to secure devices to the skin, to cover first and second degree burns, and as a protective eye covering. The dressing can also be used for many other applications including I.V.s, chronic wounds, acute wounds, and skin protection. This dressing also features a convenient, pre-printed document label to note dressing changes. Dressing size is 4 x 4.75 inches/10 cm x 10 cm.

Tegaderm™ dressings consist of a semi-permeable polyurethane membrane with an adhesive layer. Advantages of these dressings are that they are permeable to oxygen, carbon dioxide and water vapor, but are impermeable to bacteria and environmental contaminants. They are non-absorptive and create an environment, which has been shown to enhance the healing process. By sealing in natural wound fluid, they prevent scab formation and dehydration of the wound bed, which can occur with conventional dry dressings. This sandwiched design provides much improved handling characteristics, especially for cutting with knives or scissors. In contrast, after cutting a simpler single-layer 300LSE-based sheet with a knife or with scissors, the edges along the cut tend to stick together, making it almost impossible to peel the liners off cleanly. The triple-layer sheets of genuine 3M 9474LE offered here cause no such problems, they can be cut by knife or scissors and liners still come off cleanly.
